Welcome to Bali, Indonesia

Welcome to Bali, Indonesia! When spending nearly a year travelling in Southeast Asia, we couldn't leave without first visiting Bali. We decided to bring a 2 week trip towards the famed island and split our time between Ubud and Sanur to understand more about whenever possible. During one among our first nights upon the island, we attended a Balinese fire and trance performance. This dance and music drama originated inside the 1930s, depicting stories from Hindu literature. Ubud is that the art and cultural capital of Bali so we enjoyed spending a couple of days here.

Our mornings inside the town were spent visiting the different temples, browsing through markets, and soaking inside the surroundings. We also had an opportunity to visit the Tegalalang Rice Terraces. They had been lush, green, and reminded us in our amount of in time Korea because Sam's apartment overlooked rice terraces. Bali is mainly Hindu and also the island hosts many temples. During our amount of in time Bali we visited the Elephant Temple, and that is best known to its menacing cave entrance. We also visited Gunung Kawi, and that is nicknamed the Rock Temple. The rock temple gets its name due to the 10 shrines that were carved straight into the rock wall and stand 7 meters tall. They‘re truly a sight to behold. Well, I‘m supposed to sprinkle water givenfor my head, therefore here we go. During our tour all around the island, we stopped with a lookout point where we saw the impressive Mount Batur looming inside the horizon. Mount Batur is definitely an active volcano, however, once we learned that it was eventually open to hikers, we decided We‘re up to the challenge. Bali is a superb jump off point for exploring many of the surrounding beaches and islands. Trips to Lombok, Nusa Lembongan, and also the Gili Islands are super easy to rearrange.

There will be lots of water sports to select from including snorkeling, free diving, scuba diving, surfing as well as kayaking. Ubud hosts the monkey forest where infamous little macaques roam freely. The monkey forest hosts over 600 monkeys, who as time passes have lost all fear of man. The monkeys aren‘t shy and can approach people as well as climb onto their health if they feel you‘ve food. if you are feeling adventurous and want to feed the monkeys, you are able to purchase bananas right in the entrance from the monkey forest. Perhaps one of the highlights in our amount of in time Bali, was climbing Mount Batur for sunrise. The morning from the hike, we got up at 2 each morning and were driven to the bottom from the volcano. Armed having a trusty guide and flashlights in hand, we began the steep climb that will take near 2 hours to finish.

It might not happen to be the quiet paradise that is depicted inside the movies, however it offered culture, natural beauty, and it was eventually an excellent spot to relax..
